In survey after survey CPAs have told us that the most problematic leadership areas are
effectively managing conflict, appropriately confronting colleagues and clients,
and utilizing solid coaching techniques.
This one day offering is designed for new partners and managers on a partner
track. The objective is to teach these leadership skills which will enhance
the effectiveness of the attendees in managing other people, managing their
area of responsibility, and managing client relationships. Upon conclusion,
the attendee should understand the concepts and techniques in conflict,
confrontation, and coaching, and apply the techniques in daily work related
situations.
The overall approach is a case study featuring a mid-sized CPA firm attempting
to land an opportunity and deliver audit, tax and ancillary services to a new
client. Dysfunction in the relationships and execution of the work provide a
learning experience for attendees to observe and discuss. The day alternates
between short lectures to teach and solidify key points, and role plays and
practice sessions to give attendees an opportunity to hone their skills in
these sensitive areas.
At the end of the day the attendees will have seen the entire cycle of landing
and delivering work, understanding where managing conflict, confrontation and
coaching is appropriate, and bring these principles into play, making the
difference in a successful versus unsuccessful work product.
